We tried many variations of this holiday mulled wine recipe, and have settled on this as the best we have ever tasted. It has roots in an old Bavarian family recipe that dates back over a century. We drink it all year, and we hope you enjoy it!
One (750 ml) bottle of red wine.
Juice of one lemon
Sugar to taste...usually between 1/2 and 1 cup depending on the sweetness of the oranges.
Two cups of black tea....it can be really strong, but not flavored!
Peel and juice of 4 oranges.
One teaspoon cinnamon
One teaspoon nutmeg
After juicing the oranges, we slice up the peels and put them in the wine. Don't do this with the lemon.
We just put it in a crockpot on low and it gets better throughout the day.
