Meet Barry

We selected a nice cluster of Pinot Noir to show the progression of grape berries from bloom until we toss them in the crusher/destemmer to make wine in the Fall. We will post photos every week or so during the next few months so you can see how rapidly the clusters mature and ripen. You can still see the flower petals on the cluster just to the right. The brown "caps" are dead plant tissue from the blooming process. The progress of bloom is often referred to a "cap fall" or the percent of the brown caps that have fallen from the new berries. This cluster is at about 80% cap fall.
